This year, I am not preparing my Black Week post on a sunny terrace in Spain, accompanied by chatty green little parrots, as I have done for the past two years. Instead, I can enjoy nature as it prepares for winter here in Sweden.
The neatly gathered heaps of dry leaves in the park are very tempting, and I need to muster a good deal of willpower not to run straight through them in pure delight. The air is crispy, and we have even had a bit of snow last week, though it didn’t stay for very long.
In Sweden, we do not celebrate Thanksgiving, but I wish we did. It is a wonderful tradition to give attention to the people we love, the things that go well in our lives, and everything that makes life beautiful and enjoyable. When we feel unsafe, worried, and uncertain about the future or when things do not move in the direction we would like, it is even more important to remind ourselves about the positive and to count our blessings.
